Our School
Welcome to Kenmore Elementary School
We are a neighborhood school located in the west end of the Northshore School District. Kenmore is one of 20 elementary schools in the district. There are approximately 500 students enrolled at Kenmore. In addition to classrooms for kindergarten through fifth grade, Kenmore also partners with the Center for Human Services to host a Head Start pre-school classroom. In terms of demographics, approximately 48% of students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Hispanic students comprise 25% our school population, 18% are Asian, 53% are white, and the remaining percentage is comprised of students of two or more races. This information comes from the OSPI Washington State Report Card Page.
From Head Start to fifth grade, the staff at Kenmore Elementary has created a purposeful place for learning. Our teachers and other staff members have high expectations for all students and work diligently to ensure that every student achieves at high levels. We have strong programs that provide support for classroom teachers and intervention for students to reach these rigorous goals. Programs include Title I, English Language Learner (ELL), and Special Education. Classroom teachers work closely with support staff to monitor and adjust interventions to ensure academic growth for students who qualify for one or more of these programs.
Teamwork is the key to success. Teachers at Kenmore meet regularly in grade level teams, and take part in a wide variety of professional development opportunities. With our School Improvement Plan guiding us, we work together to deepen our content knowledge, as well as use the information we have about our students to provide purposeful instruction.
Kenmore is fortunate to have an active and supportive parent community and PTA. Parents work with the school in a variety of capacities to enhance the educational experience of our students. The staff members here look forward to working collaboratively in our ongoing partnerships involving the home, school and community.
