Our Monthly Focus
Dear Families,
This year we are using PurposeFull People, a program that teaches skills to help students be successful in school and in life. We are wrapping up our latest focus, Courage, and moving forward with our last focus on the year, Creativity.
Creativity Overview
We are excited to focus on Creativity this month! One way to think about Creativity is “using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem.” Opportunities to be Creative are all around us! How can you find ways to be Creative as a family this month?
In the classrooms
For the following month each classroom will be focusing on different aspects of what it means to show Creativity. Below you will find the overall focus for each grade.
Family Connections
Conversations Starters:
- Can you share or show what Creativity is?
- How can being Creative help you solve problems?
Activities:
-Get Creative with expressing your emotions through a game of emotion charades! Gather as a family and brainstorm some emotion words. Write them on slips of paper, then take turns choosing a slip of paper and acting out the emotion while other family members will guess the emotion that is being acted out. After each person’s turn, take a moment to talk about what we may need when experiencing these emotions.
- Creativity is using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem. This challenge is about creating something new – together! Find a large cardboard box and unleash your Creativity as you work together to create something totally new. What can the box become? Perhaps it will be a spaceship, an ice cream shop, a fairy castle, or a race car. Use any craft supplies or scraps on hand and your imagination to turn an ordinary box into a new creation!
Medication Pick Up
We are making plans to close out the school year. This includes seeing that the medication your child may have leftover at school will get home in a safe manner. Please make arrangements to pick up the medication at school. With parental permission, Inhalers may be sent home with your student. Any medication left in the building after June 20, 2025 at 2:00 will be taken to the district administration office for disposal.
If your child needs to take medication during school hours next school year, please bring a completed medication authorization and the medication in a properly labeled container when school begins in the fall.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Library Book Return
Last Library check-out day is Monday, June 2nd.
All Library books are due no later than Friday, June 6th.
If your child has lost a book, please visit go.nsd.org/keqa.
Please contact Chris Brush, KE Library Teacher, with any questions. cbrush@nsd.org or 425.408.4812
Thank you!
Kindergarten Enrollment
Enrollment is now open for the 2025-26 school year!
Enrollment is needed for incoming kindergarteners and new students of all grades. Visit the NSD enrollment website to get started: https://www.nsd.org/schools/get-started/enrollment
*Timely kindergarten enrollment is very important as we plan staffing for the 25-26 school year.

Are you moving?
An accurate count of students for each grade is very important. If you are moving to another school or district next year, please let our school office staff know as soon as possible so that we can plan for classroom sizes and staffing for the 25-26 school year. Thank you!

Summer Technology Update
Students will keep their devices this summer!:
- Students currently in grades 2-5 will be keeping their assigned computing devices over the summer months to allow for continuous learning. Students and families are expected to take care of their assigned device by keeping it charged and in its bag when not in use. Students who are enrolled in summer learning programs are expected to bring their device to summer programs each day. If families need support using their device or troubleshooting technical issues, they should create a help ticket at http://go.nsd.org/studenttechhelp.
Withdrawing students must turn in devices by last day of school.
- Families who are withdrawing from Northshore are expected to return any technology devices assigned to their student, including computers, tablets, hotspots and all accessories such as bags and chargers. Our school will be collecting devices on or before your last day of school. Withdrawing students who do not return their devices and accessories will be issued a fine for replacement.
Families who wish not to keep a device over the summer need to complete this opt out form.
- Families may not need or want to take their student’s device home over the summer. Families who wish to opt out of keeping their student’s assigned device will need to indicate that they are “opting out” by completing the form at https://go.nsd.org/optout . This form will help our staff to plan efficiently for sending devices home for summer learning. When students return to school in the Fall, any student who does not have an assigned device will be assigned one for school year learning.
Families in grades K-1 whose students need a device for summer learning need to complete this opt in form.
- Families of students currently in grades K and 1 who wish to check out an iPad for summer learning need to indicate so by completing the form at http://go.nsd.org/techoptin. Students and families are expected to care for the device and use it only for learning purposes. The device must be returned to school on or before the first day of the 2025-26 school year. Device Protection Plan (DPP) can be purchased to protect the device from accidental damages. More information about DPP here.
