Our Monthly Focus
Social Emotional Learning with PurposeFull People
Dear Families,
This year we are using PurposeFull People, a program that teaches skills to help students be successful in school and in life. We just wrapped up our third focus on Perseverance and are moving forward with our next focus, Honesty.
Honesty Overview
We are looking forward to focusing on Honesty this month! One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress.
In the classrooms
For the following month each classroom will be focusing on different aspects of what it means to show Honesty. Below you will find the overall focus for each grade.
- Can you share or show what it means to practice Honesty?
- When you are Honest, how does it make you feel? Why?
- Share with me how being Honest with ourselves can help us to be more confident, calm, or focused.
Activities:
- Review Honesty as a family! Honesty is being truthful in what you say and do. Discuss the importance of being Honest and work together to create a family Honesty pledge. Create and decorate a sign together that explains what Honesty means in your family. Have each family member sign the pledge and choose a spot to display it. Refer back to the pledge as a reminder to be Honest and to celebrate when Honesty is practiced!
